Photo Zine: Long Live NBT
I’ve been making photos at New Brookland Tavern in West Columbia since the fall of ‘98. The stage was where the soundboard is now — and the first band I saw here, Adderall, featured two of my suitemates at the University of South Carolina. That was 25 years ago.
After the sale of the building on State St. was announced this fall, I focused my attention to document the final months of the club here. Other projects took back seats.
I’ll be using these photos - and the ones from the upcoming final stretch at this location to publish a photo zine. And I’ll probably need help with a title.
My current working draft is 36 full color 4.5 x 6 inch pages. At this size it will fit in a purse, but I may change this final format.
Black Friday zine pre-orders (avail thru Dec. 2) will be limited editions on premium paper, signed and numbered with a 4x6 inch Giclee signed and numbered print. You can pre-order these as Black Friday gifts and the discount is available through November 30, 2023. The limited edition pre-order will be available through Dec 2.
New Brookland will be hosting shows through Dec. 29 and the zine won’t be finished until after the new year, so each pre-order will come with a certificate for each zine. These will be mailed the first week of December. You can give these to your friends and family and I’ll have the zines printed and mailed by mid-February. Your gift recipient(s) will get two surprises. (Note: photos you see here are from this work, but this page is a brainstorm on the final version)
