Mardi Gras Columbia Parade
The parade came to a halt, its head at a home with a folding table bar on the front lawn. The four co-eds behind it sprang to action, one young woman popping a bottle of champagne.
“MIMOSAS!?!?” she shouted.
The paraders swarmed the tailgate style red solo cup bar and on occasion someone tossed a greenback. After the brief refueling pause, the 12th Annual Mardi Gras Columbia Parade moved again, turning right onto Rosewood Dr., passing Publix and then snaking back to City Roots Farm on Holly St.
Hosted by the Krewe de Columbi-Ya-Ya, the parade kicked off Saturday’s Mardi Gras festival, featuring 12 bands on three stages, food, and booze.
