Justice for Josh, Justice for Cree

Marching on Main St. through the remnants of the Soda City market, demonstrators rallied at the Richland County Courthouse near City Hall Saturday in Columbia, calling for police reform and justice for two black South Carolina men who lost their lives this year at the hands of law enforcement. Organized by the Racial Justice Network, the group heard from the family of Ariane McCree, shot and killed by police in a Chester County Walmart parking lot in November, and the family of Joshua Ruffin, shot and killed in April outside Eau Claire High School.

Near the end of the event a man arrived carrying an AK-47 wearing a homemade BLM shirt, on the back it read, “If they start shooting, get behind me.”
